Milk reduces stress
Nowadays we are stressed all the time – problems at work, family worries, polical instability and so on and so forth. It seems stress is quite inevitable and aimed to make our life horrible.
However, there are lots of ways to reduce that bad influence and I’m not talking about pills or visits to a psycologist. Milk is what can help us, to be precise, the protein found in milk is the treatment for stress.

The protein, lactium, appears to have a calming effect on the body by lowering blood pressure and reducing levels of cortisol, a hormone released when the body is stressed. The effect we can see on babies who calm down after feeding on milk.
Scientists started to study milk and its wholesome effect about 20 years ago and revealed that it was a protein – casein – that played a key role. However, the amount of this protein in milk is not big and to get enough of it for an adult he has to drink impossibly large quantities of milk to feel relieved from stress.
Now a French company, Ingredia Nutritional, has developed the protein into lactium, a highly concentrated form. The lactium has been tested on 190 volunteers and as results show it works well.
In theory lactium acts on receptors in the brain that help to control anxiety and stress.
Now capsules containing the protein can be found in drugstores under the brand name Equilibrium with Lactium.
The capsules promise to ‘help with the stresses and strains of everyday life’ and should be taken at least an hour ahead of stressful events, such as exams, or daily if there is a prolonged period of pressure. But in case of depression they aren’t what you should look for as the pills are ‘not a medicine’.
