The 54-year-old star Jo Wood admits she was such a huge fan of 60s model Twiggy when she was a teen, that she would do anything to look like her.

    Jo Woods cosmetic creation

    She said:

“When I was a teen, Twiggy was my beauty inspiration – I even drew on eyelashes.”

The ex-wife of Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood, Jo has her own range of Jo Wood Organics cosmetics and skin care products. She is constantly testing out products.

    She told Style magazine:

“For my fragrance, I love the citrusy smell of Eau Sauvage by Dior; it reminds me of going out in my 20s. Making beauty products myself means I’m always trying out other organic brands, but mascara and lipstick are the only things I don’t buy organic. I have to use Mac Zoom lash and I love MAC lipsticks, the paler the better.”

Jo has said that she was inspired to work on her collection after meeting a herbalist.

    She said:

“I was put on steroids for a perforated appendix. They were b****y awful! Then I met a herbalist who completely changed my life. And everything became organic – I was like, obsessed!

She added on working in her bathroom-lab:

“My brother gave me this book which tells you how to make organic face oil and so on, and I turned my bathroom into a lab and got all these little brown bottles and funnels and then gave the oils to my girlfriends.”

That’s how it was! Everything starts from inspiration!

As the advertisement says featuring a smiling :

“Olay is my secret to brighter-looking eyes.”

Olay’s Eye Illuminator Banned on Twiggy1

The anti-ageing cream promoted by the brand should make the 60-year-old skin shine with youth. But the truth is that was airbrushed as to make the ad look more attractive as if resulting of the Olay Regenerist Definity eye illuminator.

Text in the magazine advert said:

“Because younger-looking eyes never go out of fashion. Olay Definity eye illuminator. Reduces the look of wrinkles and dark circles for brighter, younger-looking eyes.”

The airbrushed wrinkles around ’s eyes made the watchdogs notice that. Critics said they could not believe the image was genuine, particularly when set against other photos of the model. Probably it could give the wrong impression to the purchasers.

Olay’s Eye Illuminator Banned on Twiggy

The advertisement triggered more than 700 complaints, led by LibDem MP Jo Swinson, who has called for the banning of airbrushing in advertising.

    She said:

“If advertisers think that someone as beautiful as needs to be so heavily airbrushed, then what hope is there for the rest of us? Experts have proved airbrushing contributes to a host of problems in women and young girls such as depression and eating disorders.”

Today the Advertising Standards Authority says in a ruling:

“The post-production retouching of this ad, specifically in the eye area, could give consumers a misleading impression of the effect the product could achieve.”

However, it added that older women would understand that ’s youthful appearance was not solely achieved by using the Olay product.

Procter & Gamble, which makes Olay, said the “minor retouching” had been inconsistent with its policies and it had already replaced the image with one with “no postproduction work in the eye area”.

She was the world’s first supermodel as the face for Olay, back in 1985. And now when she is almost 60 they decided she was the best person to front a 12-month magazine campaign for Olay Definity. What a luck!

, whose real name is Lesley Hornby, feels really happy about it:

I am delighted to be fronting the new advertising campaign for Olay Definity – like many women I trust Olay to meet my specific skincare needs.”

Sarah Clark, spokesperson for Olay Definity, comments:

We were thrilled to welcome back to the brand.

She is a true beauty Icon who continues to be an inspiration to millions of women across the UK.”
