It’s a precedent for Estée Lauder! For the first time the illustrious brand partnered with a fashion designer. And the lucky one is Derek Lam. They teamed up to create a beauty look for a Fashion Week show Fall/Winter 2010 – the make-up and nail look for his runway show, to be more exact.

Blue eyes, matte skin, bare cheeks, copper lips and neutral nails held sway the catwalk at Capitale, where the designer showcased his American West-inspired collection.

Estée Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux led a team of 15 artists to create the look for the 22 models to complement the designer’s inspiration, while famed manicurist Jin Soon Choi and her team polished their nails with a new color that was tested backstage.

In a press release, Pecheux said:

“When Derek showed me the fabrics that inspired his Fall 2010 collection – bold and muted tones mixed with earthy pigments including terracotta, greens and browns – I thought the make-up shades should be complimentary. So we chose a blend of bold blue shadows on the eyes, shimmering copper lips, and flawless, matte skin created with a light foundation — an on-trend beauty preview of what we will see for Fall 2010.”

So, here are my tips to makeup gorgeously and innocently at the same time.

• After skin nourishing, apply the corrector under the eyes and onto the inner eye corners. Thin layer of corrector on the upper eyelids will be a good foundation for eye shadows to keep them on longer and soother.

• Use the foundation color that matches your skin color best. Shade it with your fingertips. Choose pink or peach hues blush – depending on your skin color of course. Those who have round face shape, apply blush onto the center of the cheeks, and those with long (or oblong) face – onto the cheekbones. If you want your make up to look natural and sparkling, use blush with light-reflecting sparkles.

• Apply the beaming shadows of golden-peach or beige tints along the lashes line. To add some glam chic, brush slightly the inner eye corner with light shadows.

• Apply dark-tinted matte shadows onto the outer eye corners.

• Apply light eye shadows (the first hue) under the brow along the eye.

Aquarius

Dear Aquarius girl, you are fulfilled with emotions, you everyday life is scheduled with all the possible plans, meetings; various events go one after another. On-going life absorbs you completely and you don’t have time to spend some of it for the make-up trends.

But do you really need it? Stars say that you should try one of this-season-fashionable-makeup trends. It can be one, but good and expensive. The fastest method to smoothing out the shadows is to apply the semitransparent powder. You’ll be able to dim their colors and shade the sharp bounds this way.

1. Wrong toner hue.

A woman who uses the wrong toner is easy to see in the crowd: the collar of her blouse is always dirty all over with toner. It means that she applied it onto the neck skin as well in order to match the face skin tone with the neck one.

Remember, if the makeup foundation changes the skin color of the face, you’ve put on the wrong tint. The right toner hue should exactly coincide with the skin tone. To choose the right one you need to apply a bit of toner along the chin line, shade it and watch the result into the mirror in the condition of the natural illumination. The correct hue is the one that won’t stand out against the face skin background.

Help: yellow tints products fit almost everyone unlike the rosy ones. If you are dubious what to buy, opt for the yellowish hues.

Women carry an average of £57  ($94) -worth of cosmetics in their make-up bags. Britons are spending £1.1  ($1,8) billion a month on make-up, according to a new poll conducted by the cosmetics firm Avon that has surveyed more than 1.000 women.

The most essential purchase item was mascara with 62%, lipstick took a second place in “must-buy” list pointing 38%, foundation came with 37% of women saying they had to have it.
