Girls are obsessed with the length of eyelashes – the longer the better! Tons of mascara are used to achieve that effect but we never feel satisfied.

However, the situation is going to change soon with a new product from L’Oreal that promises to make our lashes longer and thicker.

The French cosmetics company claims it has developed a serum that allows individual lashes to grow for a longer period of time before they fall out.

Thus, theoretically we will have longer eyelashes and much more of them if the serum is applied regularly.

The company has spent three years comparing eyelashes to the hair on our heads, and building on anti-hairloss technologies developed for its haircare ranges when the breakthrough was made.

The key active ingredient in the serum is an extract from a herbaceous plant called Centella asiatica which has traditionally been used in Asiatic and Indian medicine.

Hope the invention will really work and soon we all will have long lovely lashes!

• Use an optical nacre capability to enlarge the things. Apply mother-of-pearl or shimmering shadows onto the opper eyelid that will open them widely. Then outline the inner eye corner with a light nacre liner.

• Use lengthening mascara. Curl the eyelashes with a lash curler as long lashes make the eyes look bigger visually.

I used to think that those were their gift by nature but later on I read an article telling that most of icons had build up their eyelashes. Every woman dreams about long curly chic eyelashes that drive men mad and make female friends envy. Nature is cruel to most of us but what nature doesn’t want to give us modern technologies will.

Curling lashes for a short period of time is easy even with the help of ordinary mascara but this effect doesn’t last and the next morning you’ll have to repeat the procedure. Besides, mascara can flow from water, or crumble and smear your under-eye area. Thus by evening time you might end up having almost colorless and, as a result, visually shorter lashes.

A nice decision for those who want to look great all day long, in water and hot weather, is an eyelash perm. This keeps the effect of curly lashes for two-three months.

Generally the procedure is similar to a usual hair perm. The result depends on what you originally have, though even the shortest and absolutely straight lashes will look the way you want. Tiny rods and special chemical solution are the only things you will need, and a good salon to perform the procedure of course, at least the first time.

Don’t be afraid that the solution can get into your eyes or on eyelid skin. If everything is done right after removing the rods your lashes will look fantastic! The entire procedure takes 40-50 minutes.

Girls Aloud decided to launch the new limited-edition of fake eyelashes at the Superdrug store in London’s Westfield shopping centre.

The choice was pretty obvious as band soloist Cheryl Cole is rarely seen without her fake eyelashes and tons of waterproof mascara.

Girls Aloud – Sarah Harding, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Cheryl Cole and Nicola Roberts (L-R).

Kimberley commented:

“It’s every girl’s dream to have your own (bespoke) false eyelashes. You know that they are always going to fit perfectly and look just right.”

The collection includes five styles of eyelashes inspired by each Girls Aloud band member, with Cheryl’s Hollywood style lashes the longest and densest and Sarah opting for a dramatic, shorter look; Nicola’s lashes are more natural and feminine, Kimberley’s are long and light and Nadine’s are for everyday use.

The group was approached to launch their own range after they were credited with boosting the sales of faux lashes nationwide.

Tesco health and beauty director Mark Tylesley said Cheryl’s teary appearances on The X Factor last year drew attention to her falsies and use of waterproof mascara:

“Cheryl Cole is doing for false eyelashes now what Dusty Springfield did for them in the Sixties. She’s a modern icon so it’s not surprising so many young women are influenced by her style.”

On their Tangled Up tour last year, the singers got through fabulous 145 sets of eyelashes.

The make-up artist of The Promise singers, Liz Martins, said:

“I have been using Eyelure lashes on the girls for years. We often customise the styles ourselves to suit each of the girls, so when the opportunity came up to create something especially for Girls Aloud, the girls were full of ideas about exactly how they wanted them to look.”

It is a common fact that the upper eyelid contains about 90-160 hairs reaching 8-12mm in length. The lower eyelid contains fewer hairs – 75-80 – of 6-8mm in length. Each month hairs are shed, and replaced by new ones soon reaching the same length. It is a natural renewal process and we cannot influence on it.

Despite all the arguments about products that promise substantial growth of your eyelashes, no miraculous cream or oil can cause eyelashes to grow longer and thicker. Length, thickness, color, and growth rate of eyelashes are genetically determined. However, modern medical achievements can change the situation. It is hair transplantation that I am speaking about. The first experiments were performed by Dr. Diffenbach two centuries ago in 1822, and as a result of them today’s fashion-conscious women can obtain the eyelashes they dream about.

Modern eyelash transplantation procedure can be compared to jeweler’s art though everything may seem very simple at first sight. Donor hair is extracted (one follicle at a time) from either your scalp or your leg. It is usually taken from a site that has finer rather than coarser hair, finer hair is a better “match” for eyebrow hair. Then donor hair is transplanted micro surgically 1 or 2 hairs at a time. Each hair is placed into a tiny cut specially prepared for it.

The operation usually lasts for 1.5-2 hours under local anesthesia, and is similar to a typical hair transplantation procedure to treat baldness.
