Oscar de la Renta Fall 2012 Collection: Gorgeous!
Oscar de la Renta brought to our attention his Fall 2012 collection. Fifties and Sixties-inspired outfits are gorgeous! The cut, colours and fabric are wonderful. It’s so pleasant to see such high-profile garments from Oscar de la Renta, the legendary designer who turns 80 this July and who is still going from strength to strength.
Oscar de la Renta became famous mostly by creating rich, ladylike sweet outfits from organza and tulle. Oscar de la Renta Fall 2012 collection mainly consists of classy twinsets, boucle skirt suits and slightly funnelled boat necked shifts. Some garments are adorned with pretty faux-bobs. Comfortable little fur jackets and vests of pastel shades of soft pink and icy blue never looked so wealthy. Models’ fine jeweled headbands and modest necklines were very romantic! Moreover, there were also simpler fashionista looks and a couple of sensational tulle fantasies that would certainly do a red carpet proud.
Our special prize goes to those big frocks – a work of art, masterpiece! These frothy, ethereal creations boasted full skirts, slightly drawn up in front like theater curtains, and off-the-shoulder necklines, and of course, they have “A-list” written all over them.
Using jewels as his main inspiration, many of the gorgeous garments featured large digital prints of heirloom brooches and giant crystals. Some jewel pendants were actually sewn onto some of the pieces. Inspiring plays on texture abounded, with rich, sparkling tweeds, fine Chantilly lace appliquéd on nude chiffon, and dazzling silver embroidery on both cashmere sweaters and one gleaming white satin dress.
Oscar de la Renta will be eighty this year! Unbelivable! Legendary designer said:
Every day, I learn something new. It’s really quite fantastic!”
He obviously hasn’t forgotten what he learned in his early training under the legendary Cristóbal Balenciaga…
