There are many things you can do with frozen berries. They can serve as cooling healthy snacks, smoothie ingredients, or simply as sweet treats. You can also freeze a whole banana or any other fruit or berry covered in chocolate if you want something more chewy and chocolaty.
Sorbet is a close second to ice-cream. It’s cold and can be made with fruit or berries. The easiest way to make this cold dessert is to puree berries or fruit and freeze with water or juice. You can control your sugar intake while preparing it too.
A frozen yogurt is always a great idea to get a treat without the fear of extra pounds. Choose plain greek yogurt for your frozen yogurt treat or homemade ice-cream and add organic berries or fruit in chunks or pureed form.
Banana ice-cream is another great way to cut on sugar and enjoy delicious ice-cream. Cut two or more bananas up into slices and spread them on a tray. Freeze them and place into the food processor. Puree until smooth and creamy. You can pop the ice-cream back into the freezer to stiffen. If you want some added sweetness add a teaspoon of peanut butter to the mass.
A homemade popsicle is a great treat for both adults and kids. Puree frozen berries with milk or a watermelon instead and pour into the old yogurt containers. Add sticks and pop into the freezer for a couple of hours. Healthy and yummy!
