5 Reasons Behind Dark Circles
Lack of sleep isn’t the only thing behind your dark circles. It surely helps to live a healthy lifestyle and get enough rest but there are also numerous other reasons that can cause your eyes cast a shadow. Excluding the obvious ones like illness and old age, these are the main reasons for dark circles.
Stuffed Nose And Allergies
Though not all allergies cause congestion and a congestion isn’t always caused by allergies stuffed nose is surprisingly affecting your appearance. I’ve noticed that since I had chronic sinus congestion my dark circles worsened immensely.
Anemia & Nutritional Deficiency
Anemia may not only darken your vision while standing up. It is also believed to be a cause of dark circles. Iron deficiency casuses poor oxygination in blood, which makes dark circles worse or casues them in the first place. Nutritional deficiency is a common cause of anemia, so make sure to adjust your diet to solve dark circle problem. It might not be related to nutrition as in food but rather water. Make sure to stay hydrated for better skin and health in general.
Since your skin is thinnest around the eyes sun exposure, which promotes melanin production to minimize the damage from sun radiation, will darken it more than thicker skin around the rest your body.
Hormonal changes can affect many things in your body including the area around the eyes that may change color during menstruation or pregnancy.
Hereditary dark circles are very common and might sometimes be due to skin pigmentation rather than internal reasons.
It’s not always possible to change anything when it comes to eyes. Hooded eyelids, deep sockets, low eyebrows. Age and some chronic illness or even genetics play against you but there’s always good ol’ concealer, luminizer, and corrector for saving face.
