Shape January 2012: Molly Sims on “Feeling Fit, Fabulous and Focused!”

The 38-year-old model, actress, Project Accessory host and designer Molly Sims appeared on the cover of January’s issue of Shape magazine, showing off her toned bikini body and sharing her staying-fit secrets. Check out what Molly Sims had to share:

Firstly, don’t think it comes naturally, Molly admits it takes hard work to keep in such a fabulous shape:

This does not come naturally. I have to work out 60 to 90 minutes at least five days a week and stick to a high- fiber, low-calorie eating plan. I wanted to be consistent with my exercise, so I committed to working out for 30 days in a row, no matter what. For an hour every day, I did something. I was on the elliptical or the treadmill, and if someone asked me to go to a class—whether it was spinning, boxing, yoga, you name it—I went. By the end of the month, I felt so good, I just kept going. I didn’t want to lose my momentum.

Now Molly has improved her workout routine by adding more strategies that help her “feeling fit, fabulous and focused”. Here are some of them:

Bribe Yourself:

I’m going to get up every morning at 6:30 to work out. Then, when I’ve kept with it all week, I give myself something I really want, like a new handbag or a piece of jewelry I’m coveting.

Drop Five Fast:

A week before the event, I cut out alcohol and soy sauce, and I increased my water intake. On the big day, my dress fit perfectly and I felt fantastic.

Brush Up:

Don’t hate me for suggesting this, because it can hurt a bit at first, but before I get in the shower, I use a loofah or brush to exfoliate. There’s nothing better for getting your circulation going and helping with cellulite.
