Oh, sweet tooth can be such a figure killer it’s unfair. But what to do to tame the sweet tooth without piling on pounds? There are some good tricks to lower the sweets intake or at least make sure those sweet treats won’t hurt the figure.

Cut On Sugars

Sweets aren’t the only foods that contain sugar. Pasta, ketchup, dressings, low-fat yogurt, diet coke – all contain sugar that adds to the calories in your diet. So in order to keep figure and enjoy sweets try to reduce the overall sugar intake. Opt for whole foods that aren’t loaded with sugar and always read labels and count the sugars contained in foods. Also opt for less sweet sweets like dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate or a frozen plain yogurt with your own added sugar and other additives.

Swap Sweets for Fruit

May sound painfully familiar but it’s better than nothing. Fresh fruit, berries and fruit deserts with yogurt or sprinkle of cinnamon will tame sweet tooth and won’t hurt figure as much as chocolate or pastry would. Try to stick mainly with fresh fruit as dried or canned fruit still have added sugar. This also goes for packaged juice, make your own from fresh fruit.

Opt for Natural Sugars

Avoid artificial sweeteners used in soda drinks. These sweeteners make you crave for more sugar as the regular intake seems not as sweet after them. Processed white sugar isn’t healthy so swap it for brown one.

Lower sugar intake will not only help keep figure but also avoid inflammation and other health problems like diabetes. Eating away stress with food and sweets is also not a healthy thing so try to evaluate why you crave sweets. If it’s from stress opt for healthier stress-reliving solutions like massage, workout or a hobby.

Fast metabolism burns more calories than slow one but it's also important to watch what you eat. Unhealthy high-calorie foods can still contribute to dramatic weight gain even when metabolism is fast. So here are some ways of boosting metabolism.

Fast metabolism is important for weight loss but so is the healthy diet. The latter is especially important because we are what we eat and even the fast metabolism won’t handle high-calorie foods washed down with sugary sodas without consequences for the figure. There are several effective ways to boost metabolism:

Eat Often

You must have heard that eating often in small portions will help boost metabolism rather than eating full meals fewer times a day. They keep metabolism running not letting it slow down. Avoid unhealthy snacks though as these will only make you gain weight.

Don’t skip breakfast. Stick to well-balanced diet that includes protein, fresh fruit and vegetables, and whole grains. Exclude trans fats, junk and processed foods and sugary carbonated drinks.

Exercise

Exercising boosts metabolism. For an ultimate result combine some aerobic exercises with weight training to grow some muscle mass for a beautiful fit body silhouette. Also mix high intensity exercises with 30 seconds of rest or just lower the intensity of the exercise for a short interval.

Get Enough Sleep

Sleep is not only good for skin but it also helps your body burn more calories. Make sure to get at least 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep to let your body rest and rebuild.

Avoid Unhealthy Habits

Crash diets, starving, alcohol, sleep deprivation, and unhealthy diet slow down metabolism and they are generally just aren’t healthy so try to avoid them.

It can be hard to keep one's figure during holidays but with some tips and tricks you can avoid overeating and drastic weight gain. It's always good to have healthier alternatives for holiday meals but it's also important to control your portions and enjoy the food.

Holidays come with an abundance of parties, food and sweets that can hinder anyone’s diet. The temptation is great and the dishes are numerous so what one has to do to keep figure healthy and fit? First of all enjoy the party and the people because the holidays are not about food. Or not only about it. Enjoy the music, films, and communication. Think of food as a nice little bonus to the holidays.

Cook Healthier Foods

Healthier dishes are lower in calories and fat and still they can taste delicious. Think fresh veggie salads, poultry instead of red meat, fruit deserts instead of sugary sweets. Even if you have to cook fatty high-calorie foods for the family and guests make yourself a few healthier alternatives. By eating healthier foods you’ll be able to keep your figure during holidays.

Control Your Portions

Going out or receiving guests is common for holidays. But in order to keep your figure control portions of food by using a medium plate rather than a large plate. Fill it modestly with foods that go well together like meat and veggies rather than meat and bread, for instance.

Enjoy Your Food

Enjoy your food. Instead of beating yourself up for every bit of fatty tasty foods eat slowly realizing what you’re eating and enjoying every bite. This way you’ll feel full without overeating and bloating. Chew thoroughly to help your stomach process foods easily and enjoy the taste of the dish.

Snacks just like meals should be filling and healthy. No added sugars and no processed foods. Think fresh veggies and fruit on their own, in salads, or instead of bread with spreads. Learn more about healthy and filling snacks.

Snacks are great at curbing food cravings and keeping us from overeating. But there are snacks that are good and then there are bad ones. The former are both healthy and filling and the latter are full of fat and sugar. It’s always a good idea to read labels to check calories and ingredients. Avoid additives like sugar, especially artificial and processed foods.

Plain Yogurt With Fresh Fruit

Avoid any dairy products with added sugars. If you wan to sweeten them just add fresh fruit. Plain yogurt can be frozen into a delicious low-calorie desert. Fruit and berries taste great with yogurt. Think mangoes, strawberries, and apples.

Nuts

Nuts and organic nut butter make for healthy and filling snacks. A handful of unsalted nuts or a teaspoon of almond/peanut butter with a slice of fruit can fill you in between the meals as well as curb the sweet food cravings. Watch out for allergies though and don’t overeat nuts.

Cheese With Fruit

Eat a slice of your favorite cheese with fresh slices of fruit. Some cheeses are higher in fat so reduce the portions if your favorite kind is high in calories.

Apparently fresh fruit and vegetables can curb food cravings too. So pick up those for your taste and snack on them between the meals. If you are going to make a salad be careful not to use fatty dressings stick with salt and pepper, lemon juice or olive oil.

Chocolate-dipped slices of fruit or whole berries allow you to indulge in some chocolate and make a delicious desert. Just be sure to use dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate as the latter has much more sugar in it. There are many desserts one can make from fruit and berries. Think smoothies, sorbets, puddings, and grilled fruit.

Baked Apples

Baked apples are delicious and easy to make. Carve the apple cores out and fill them in with anything. Also add a bit of sugar and a butter. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees C (350 degrees F) and put in the apples for around 15 minutes.

Dates

Date fruit is not only very sweet and delicious but it also has many health benefits. It’s good on its own but it can also be eaten with tea or milk.

Frozen Yogurt

If you want a really low-calorie ice-cream take some plain yogurt and instead of adding sugar fill it with some berries, fruit slices, nuts and vanilla or cinnamon. Put into a freezer till it’s frozen.

Whether you are trying to lose weight or just keeping fit by making healthier choices it’s always to keep everything in moderation even if the desserts are healthy.
