When we do not have the whole information about something we grow myths – that are our predictions or false expectations. Hair care is not the only sphere with plenty of myths dominated.
People just believe something is true though they cannot really find any reasons to explain why they believe it is true. Here are some of common myths about hair care. Don’t be among those who have ‘wrong beliefs’!
Trimming Makes Hair Grow Faster
Many people believe that trimming makes hair grow faster and thicker. It is a common myth and there is no truth in this practice.
The effect you notice is simply an illusion. When you see trimming bangs, spit ends, or shaggy locks you think that your hair is healthier while it just looks healthier due to fact the size of your hairdo is increased.
The speed of your hair growth is mostly determined by genetics but you can help your hair grow faster.
Make sure you eat a healthy diet rich in fruit and vegetables and products with plenty of protein. Good sources of protein are: eggs, fish, and other lean meats.
Products don’t Work when You Use Them Repeatedly
Another myth is that your hair can build up “immunity” to hair products you use regularly. People often say that their shampoo doesn’t help their hair in the way it used to.
It is actually not true. Hair cannot build up a resistance against products.
In most cases, what these people are experiencing may be a “build up” of styling products. To avoid that, wash your hair once a week with either a clarifying shampoo or rinse with apple cider vinegar that will remove product build up and freshen your hair.
Washing Hair with Shampoo Every Day is Dangerous
Many people are afraid to use shampoo to wash their hair everyday as they think it will dry their hair out. It’s a mistake either.
When you use a shampoo or other hair products that are appropriate for your hair type, you shouldn’t worry about this. In case your hair is very dry indeed, there is really no reason to wash your hair every day. You may want to wash it every other day with a mild shampoo.
On the days you don’t shampoo your hair, you can rinse it with warm water and then apply a moisturizing conditioner.
Brushing Causes Hair Loss
People sometimes believe that brushing of their hair leads to hair loss or thinning hair. As long as you use a good quality hair brush you don’t have to worry about that. But if you tend to brush your hair too often it can cause hair breakage and split ends.
There are many of other myths I haven’t mentioned above.
Don’t be afraid of anything. When you know everything about products you use you may not feel anxious about applying them.
However, when you are unsure about some treatment the best way to know if it is good for your hair is to consult a specialist!
