There’s something purely romantic and glamorously authentic about French beauty products, don’t you think?
Here’s L’OCCITANE, a French beauty company specializing in organic skin, hair and body care, organic fragrances for both men and women.
The brand was established in 1976 by Olivier Baussan in the small town of Manosque, France.
Baussan drew his inspiration from Mediterranean art de vivre and traditional techniques to create natural beauty products devoted to well-being and the pleasure of taking care of oneself.
“The sun, the products of the soil and a love of nature are the essence of my Provence. It is this essence I want to share with the world. It is what inspired me to create L’OCCITANE,” Olivier Baussan says.
French soaps, shampoos, hair/skin/body care products and fragrances feature natural and organic ingredients such as lavender, shea butter and verbena, among others.
What we like about L’OCCITANE is that they use essential oils rather than mineral oils that are a lot more organic.
Another good thing about the company is that it’s totally environmental-friendly. Experts don’t test products on animals, use recyclable packaging and sustainable technologies keeping environment in mind.
Another L’OCCITANE feature that definitely appeals to us is that the company develops its product formulas according to the principles of phytotherapy and aromatherapy, and tries its best to stick to as many natural ingredients in the products as it’s naturally possible. While using synthetic molecules experts make sure all the products are created under dermatological and medical supervision.
And the next best thing is that a massive part of L’OCCITANE beauty products (78%, to be exact) are paraben-free, while face care products (with the exception of sun care products) contain a maximum of 5% silicones. Besides, phthalates are never used for making fragrances.
Bringing together tradition, nature and research, L’OCCITANE claims its main focus is pleasure in a form of “a delicious moment of well-being and sensory delight.”
P.S. Try the French soaps, they’re wonderful!

L’OCCITANE makes many great products, but most are not truly organic. Just read the labels, many contain artificial colors, fragrances, and more!
