Your skin is always subject to negative influence of the environment and needs great care. But in winter months skin might be in real danger.

    beauty skin

Cold and windy weather can make it dry. Your skin may lose its moisture and be more prone to flakiness and itchiness.

To avoid that and help your skin look healthy and free of problems take into consideration the following advice:

    1. Wear a moisturizer.

Apply it in the morning and night or more often if it is necessary. Remember that moisturizers you use in winter should be based on oil rather than water and the more oil it contains the more effectively it protects your skin against moisture loss. But choose your oils carefully because some of them are not appropriate for the facial use. Avocado oil, mineral oil, primrose oil, or almond oil is the best.

    2. Use sunscreen.

You’re mistaken if you think that sunscreen is for summer only. Winter sun combined with snow glare can damage your skin either. Try applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen to your face and your hands (if you don’t wear gloves) about 30 minutes before going outside. If you stay outside for a long time you might need to reapply it.

    3. Give yourself some nourishing moisturizing masks.

They can be manufactured or home-made, the latter is even better because you use fresher ingredients with no chemical substances. Good natural masks can be made with fruit or vegetables, along with yoghurt and honey.

    4. Avoid harsh scrubs.

If you feel your facial skin is becoming too dry, steer clear of applying harsh peels, masks, and alcohol-based toners or astringents as they can damage your skin which is extremely vulnerable in the winter period. Besides, they might strip vital oil from your skin. Instead, look for a cleansing milk or mild foaming cleanser, a no alcohol toner, and masks that are “deeply hydrating”. And use them less often.

    5. Help your immune system.

People with good immune system rarely catch colds that are likely to develop skin problems. Have enough sleep and consume more products with vitamin C.

    skin care ingredients

    6. Refuse from hot baths as the heat from hot bath breaks down the lipid barriers in the skin, which can lead to a loss of moisture.
    7. Use a humidifier.

Of course, you understand that when the windows are closed and the heating is on, the air inside becomes very dry. It might make your skin too dry and itching. The way out is a humidifier to place moisture in the air. You can obtain relatively inexpensive humidifiers at a local drug store.

If the problem is getting worse despite all those measures you’ve taken my advice is to find a good specialist, a dermatologist, who will be able to explain you what’s wrong and give professional advice concerning your problem.

I hope the article was interesting and helpful. Be healthy and look nice in every season!
