Hand care: Tips to Velvety Hands
Hands don’t lie, then don’t lie about your beauty routine or age or general state. If you work hard and don’t sleep well your hands will show it all off when time comes. Dry skin of your hands is not very pleasant to the touch not only for you but also for those who you meet and greet. Hand Care Routine
Your hands require daily care as does your face. Be sure to use soft hand lotion after washing your hands, especially in winter as the heating dries your hands very quickly. Avoid washing hands with hot water. If your job or daily chores require frequent hand-washing use hand sanitizer instead of the soap and water. Be sure it contains softening ingredients as alcohol dries skin more than the soap does.
Exfoliate your hands with mild scrub once a week and moisturizer after. You can make the homemade scrub using a mix of 1 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/3 cup of salt and a cup of olive oil and zest of one lemon. Grinded oat is also a good scrub by itself with softening and hydrating properties. Hand masks are also great in hands care routine. Most of those hand masks you can make yourself.
Dry Hand Skin Remedies
In winter opt for heavier moisturizers and don’t forget to wear gloves to protect your hand skin from winds and harsh weather. In order to soften and hydrate the dry hands skin use one of the following remedies:
- Olive oil bath. Take a bowl with warm water and add 4 table spoons of olive oil. Bathe your hands for 10 or 15 minutes and then rinse with clean warm water. Complete the treatment with the moisturizer.
- Steam your hands with hot water in the bowl or sink with running hot water. Do not soak your hands in it just use its steam to soften the dry and cracked skin.
- Cut the aloe plant leaf and rub your hands with it. It also helps to remedy the burns.
Daily Tips to Velvety Hands
Wear special gloves while doing chores to protect your hands from abrasive cleansing chemicals. Cold weather and winds adversely impact hands skin. Moisturize your hands with hand creams and lotion that contain Vitamin E and oils that soften and nourish skin.
Exfoliation once a week will allow lotion absorb deeper into skin and masks will help hydrate skin. Don’t forget to apply creams with SPF when it’s sunny to protect your hands from UV rays and prevent aging. If the water you are using is hard try to soften it with special salts and other softeners.
