Marsala Color Of The Year In Makeup
Pantone, the authority on color, has recently announced a color of the year 2015. The muted wine red was named after a Siciallian wine Marsala and it has already been makeup artists’ favorite during fashion weeks at least in terms of lip color. The tint is rich and eathly pairing very nicely with grays and blues. It’s a perfect wintery lip hue but what about the rest of makeup?
Pantone’s Marsala Is Muted Wine Red
Sephora has partnered with Pantone as usual to show you Marsala in makeup by creating a few very bold looks. While these looks maybe too intense to wear in real life they greatly show what you can do with the color.
As you can see Sephora hadn’t limit themselves in use of the color to only lips or eyes. They’ve used it on the eyebrows as makeup artists did at Badgley Mischka Spring 2015 show and the cheeks as welll.
Red eyeshadow maybe especially problematic as it brings out the redness in eyes and accentuates the dark circles. So if you want to avoid the pink eye look go for a bright eyeliners instead.
Another great way to wear wine red is on your nails, of course. Wine red is perfect for cold season and you can coordinate it to your lipstick as well. Matching lips and tips is trendy once again.
Marsala makes for beautiful ombre eye makeup but you can also pair it with silver grey or royal bue if you feel like going for a two-toned look.
Sephora even offers you a completely wearable everyday natural look in Marsala that will make you glow and yet won’t be too bright or intense.
What do you think about this year’s color? Do you love it and how will you wear it?
