Ponytail: Spring/Summer 2012 Hair Trend

Ponytail is an easy and stylish everyday hairstyle and has been spotted at numerous fashion shows for Spring/Summer 2012 season. The ponytails vary in styles and can be worn both on a daily basis and for the night out. Tease or decorate the ponytail to glam it up for a special occasion.

Ponytails from Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012:

Sleek High Ponytail

Sleek high ponytails have been seen at Donna Karan, Nicol Farhi, and Monique Lhuillier Spring/Summer 2012 fashion shows. To achieve the look hair must be perfectly sleek while the tail can be teased to look more voluminous. The ponytails at Donna Karan featured super sleeked almost wet look hair that was fixed in a high loose ponytail.

Half Bun Ponytail

Half bun ponytails are easily made and give a nice twist to a regular ponytail. These have been spotted at Missoni and Yigal Azrouel.

Elegantly Wrapped Ponytail

At Elie Saab show the models sported an interesting take on a wrapped ponytail. This ponytail seems to be fixed at the base to prevent hair from unwrapping.

Tousled Ponytail

Michael Kors fashion show has featured models wearing complex tousled ponytails. The ponytail is made of teased knots which makes it look tousled and voluminous.

Ponytail With Braid

Marchesa offered a mix of trendy ponytail and braid. The base of the low rise ponytail is wrapped and then braided a bit at the very beginning of the tail.

Sectioned Ponytail

A sectioned ponytail as seen at Herve Leger is easy to make. Divide the hair in three sections from the crown and fix each section with elastic and then fix the rest of the tail with both previous sections at the neck.
