Hair Trends: Spring 2013 Braids
Seems like braids never go out of fashion. It’s no wonder as they are simple to do, decorative and versatile. You can wear a braid during the day or to the evening outing. Braids can be playful and elegant and give your hair nice texture. Let’s take a look at some braids from Spring 2013 shows.
Wrap Around Braid
Wrap around braid as seen at Emerson Spring 2013 show is a great updo for a day as well as a special ocassion. To create a voluminous wrap around braid curl your hair prior to braiding it. Start the braid at the side of your head and go over the forehead. Keept it loose and braid it inside out to give it more volume.
Bun + Rope Braid
At Jeremy Scott the hair was pulled up in a high sleek ponytail and finished with a bun. Long hair extension then was added to create a rope braid that was attached under the bun. The look is amazing and fresh.
Marchesa went for a low-rise ponytail for the show but kept it more interesting by adding a couple of small plaits at the front that then wrapped around it.
Two Fishbone Braids
Messy playful fishbone braids looked Spring-like and bohemian at Tory Burch. The braids aren’t perfect, on the contrary they are messy and tousled which gives them texture and volume.
At Maria Grachvogel’s Spring 2013 show the models wore what we call a Y braid. It actually starts with the two braids that start at the front hairline and braided inside out and combine at the back into one braid creating a Y shape.
Retro Wave Braid Updo
At Jason Wu the models sported a retro wave at one side but the rest of their hair was braided and curled at the nape of their necks.
This loose braid the models sported at Jean Pierre Braganza Spring 2013 show makes it look like you don’t wear a braid from the front as the front hair section is loose as in loose ponytail. But the back is braided at the center and then continues into a loose relaxed braid which looks like a cage braid finished with a strand wrapped around it.
At Honor Spring 2013 show models wore inside out braids fixed to the head and decorated with false odd-shaped jewels.
Messy Fishbone Braid
Messy fishbone braid seen at Kimberly Ovitz is a great take on the fishbone braid. It has a sleek base with rest of the hair divided into three sections two of which are braided in fishbone braid style and one section wrapped around them. Take a look at the video below to see how to get this look.
